Environmental Assessment (EA) is
typically required to support larger planning applications and is
intended to:- In addition, some projects which do not technically require an EA, but need to consider a similar range of issues, may benefit from organising the planning application in a similar format, known as an Environmental Report. |

Whilst this does not carry
the same regulatory obligations as a full EA, it demonstrates that
a systematic approach has been taken to the analysis and mitigation
of relevant issues. The product of an Environmental Assessment is the Environmental Statement (ES) - the document which is finally submitted to the local authority 2B's role in the process:-
